I posted a new decal sheet today, this time it's an 8.5"x3.5" sheet for the 1/100 Master Grade RX-78 GP03 Dendrobium Stamen.  Now all I need to do is work on something for the GP02! ;)  Soon all have decals for the 1/144 kit, and a much requested sheet for the HGUC Dendrobium Orchis as well!  I'm also hard at work on my Ultimate Zeon sheet, and have nearly finished a sheet for the PG Strike Gundam, so look out for those sheet soon (but probably not before the Premiere of Star Wars Episode III, as I'm working on my lightsaber right now!).  Here's a preview of the decal sheet, click the thubmbnail for details:

Ok, this has nothing to do with the usual stuff on my site, but it's damn important to me, and should be to you too!  Fathers and step-mothers are more often than not given the VERY "short end of the stick" when it comes to parenting their kids after divorce.  Their own kids!!! Believe me, I know.  And in the end who pays?  You guessed it, the kids.  So check out this great site with T-shirts and such promoting non-custodial parent rights and links to important information. Even if you aren't directly affected by this issue (and I know at least 60% of you are!), support a good cause!

3 brand new decal sheets are available in the Models 4U Store! This time up are exciting new decals, people have been requesting these for a long time. First, I have a full 8.5"X11" sheet for the Perfect Grade Zeta Gundam, which has some very new logos. Another treat is a special sheet of warning markings designed by Michael "FichtenFoo" Fichtenmayer. His works are very popular (and amazing!), and now you can add some of his flair to your models. Thanks Michael! Finally, check out my second Z-Plus decal sheet, designed for the 2 tone Demonstration Colors version, a more colorful version of my previous Zeta Plus sheet.  A thumbnail of the warning markings sheet is below.

I've just uploaded the brand new Models 4U Store! The new layout will make it simpler for you to find the decals you're looking for, and looks cool too! You can now browse decals sorted by Mobile Suit, scale, view recent additions, or view a complete list of decals.  There's also a new comprehensive FAQ, and also spaces reserved for upcoming resin model kits, and my upcoming customer Gallery.  If you'd like your model to be included in the Gallery, email me for details.

And of course I won't leave you wanting for new decal sheets! I've added the long awaited 1/60 AEUG Gundam Mk-II decals, 1/60 PG Gundam G3 decals, and a newly designed sheet for the 1/100 Zeta Plus kits as well.  And last but not least, I'll be taking pre-orders for my Gundam Hazel conversion kit starting in mid Novermber.

The wait is over, the TR-1 Gundam Hazel is here! (well, almost)  I've finished all but one of the molds (the shield), and have started on painting the prototype.  Once the prototype is complete (est. 3 weeks), I'll set the final price and start taking pre-orders for the kit.  Also, I'll soon be releasing my redesigned store, with new decal sheets for the MG Zeta Plus (these are really cool), 1/60 G3 decals, and the first Models 4U resin kits!  Watch this page for more info, and in the mean time, here are photos of the unpainted RX-121 Gundam Hazel prototype!

Howdy folks. It's been a while since I released any new decals, busy busy with trying to get the Hazel stuff cast (I promise an update soon, really!). But the haitus is over, I've finished up new decal sheets for GP-01 kits, in 1/60, 1/100, and 1/144 scale. The 1/60 sheet includes decals for both the regular and Fb armor parts, plenty for the whole kit. Here's a picture of the 1/60 version, the others are pretty much the same decals in different sizes. See the Store for pricing details and ordering info, and feel free email me with any questions you may have.

Long time no update, as usual.  I've been doing my best to spend my free time actually getting some work done rather than posting photos of in progress parts.  And the Hazel is almost finished!  I only have to build the shoulder shield handles and fix a few flaws with some parts, then I start casting! :)  Look for new photos on Sunday or Monday.

In the mean time, I've managed to finish up the 1/60 RX-78 decals, which have been added to the store.  This is a scale up of my GFF style RX-78-2 decals, with the addition of all of the major decals from the MG Ver. Ka, for those that prefer the more military style markings.  Here's a preview image:

Howdy folks, sorry for the long delay without updates. People have been asking about where my Hazel conversion is at, so here's an update. The head is finished (I think), aside from a little cleanup. I started with the head parts from Dengeki hobby, which have some serious problems. For those who have seen the Dengeki head, the face is HORRIBLE (gorilla face!). There are also some proportion problems and the shape of the raised parts on the side of the head is wrong. I started by shortening the face, reshaping the chin with some plastic sheet, and rescribing panel lines. Then I extended the visor downward with plastic sheet, extended the forehead lump to fit the reshaped visor, and replaced the goofy Dengeki head spikes with extras from the MG Gundam MK-II (extended and sharpened with SGT). I reshaped the sides of the head with epoxy putty. I also lengthened the cheek vents a bit to round out the proportions. I had to chop up the assemblies a bit, and fill them with epoxy putty for casting/re-assembly purposes. Here are the head photos:

http://models4you.whoadude.com/temp/hazel/head3.jpg
http://models4you.whoadude.com/temp/hazel/head_parts.jpg
And the old ugly face for reference:
http://models4you.whoadude.com/temp/hazel/oldhead.jpg

I may still do a little more work on this, I'm trying to decide whether or not to round out the shape of the entire head a bit, and whether or not to do some work on the square indentations on the side (they should probably be a bit bigger).

I've also built the shoulder armor things (basic plastic scratchbuilding, with some really freakin' tiny rivets that were a major bitch):

http://models4you.whoadude.com/temp/hazel/shoulder3.jpg
http://models4you.whoadude.com/temp/hazel/shoulder4.jpg

Still have to figure out how to deal with the flip up handles on those, I think I'll make separate flipped up and down versions, and the builder will have to swap them to switch to the 3 shield mode.

Next up is the handles and arm mounts for the shields, rebuilding a leg part I lost, and the front skirt mounts. Almost there!  My new target finish date is the end of September...wish me luck!

I'm also just finishing up the 1/60 decals for the PG Gundam RX-78, and hope to have these up in the store by the end of next week.

Allrighty then, a lot of people have been curious about the foot situation with the TR-1 conversion.  I've just about finished up the foot, built entirely from sheet plastic and Bondo, based on a 3d model I built in 3d Studio Max.  I'm going with a more classic boxy Katoki styling, rather than the rounded feet we're seeing on newer kits.  I still need to figure out how to attach the ankle guards, and do a lot of detailing and cleanup work, but the shapes are there.  Aside from including these with the Hazel conversion kit, I'll be selling them in pairs so people can adapt them for the MG GM Quel, GM Custom, Gundam Ver. Ka, and GM-Kai kits (or whatever else they want).  They'll probably be $10-$15 each set.  Let  me know if you're interested in them, or have any suggestions.  Here are the pictures:

Allrighty, more Hazel pics 4U!  It's my birthday today too, I'm 30! (ack!)  I managed to spend some quality time on my Hazel conversion in the last couple of days, and was able to build the chest armor, which I've been worried about my ability to actually build. This was made even more difficult by the fact that I broke down and bought the MG Alex, and kept looking at the MG parts and thinking "I could just cast this instead"! But I restrained myself, and only used it for some measurements, didn't even take it off the sprue.  Here are some pictures:

http://models4you.whoadude.com/temp/hazel/chest1.jpg

http://models4you.whoadude.com/temp/hazel/chest6.jpg

As usual, there's still some cleanup to do, but this is pretty close to finished. The orange dots in the chest vents are the halftoned printing from the garage sale sign plastic I'm using. The ink is quite thick, and you can see the texture of the dots, so I thought I'd try to use them to add some implied detail to the vents (not sure if they'll still show up after priming).  Next up are the feet, which I've already built the CAD models for...

I'm also working hard on my warning marking decal sheet, the Ultimate Zeon sheet, and decals for PG AEUG Gundam Mk-II and RX-78.

I've just added two new decal sheets to the Models 4U Store, both for Bandai GP-01Fb kits, in 1/100 and 1/144 scales. These are some of my best original decals yet, I'm really proud of the logo designs, which include a lot of Fix Figuration style insignia, and a new Zephyranthes logo designed just for these decals. I'll soon be making sheets for the GP-01, GP-03, and perhaps the GP-02 as well.

Now, back to work on the TR-1 Gundam Hazel conversion kit, which I hope to finish in a month or so. I've had a lot of questions about the Hazel conversion, so here are answers to the most common questions I've been asked:

Yes, the kit will include decals.
Yes, the kit will include the beam rifle (2, actually)
Yes, the kit will include all 3 booster/shields
Yes, the kit will include optional full armor parts to allow you to make any Gundam Hazel version, and will probably be able to switch between versions.
Yes, pretty much anything you might want the kit to include will be includes. :)
No, it's not done yet! ;)

I've also had a lot of requests for some proper Katoki style feet for various GM and Gundam kits, so I'll probably be making some resin feet adaptable to all appropriate Master Grade kits in the near future.

I just added the Master Grade RX-78-3 G3 decals to the store.  Suitable for any of the 1/100 RX-78 kits, they'd look particularly cool on the new MG Gundam Ver. Ka.  Check them out!  And don't forget to scroll down and look at the pictures of my Gundam Hazel conversion project. :)

Ok, more Hazel conversion updates! The leg parts are just about finished.  I still have to add some small details and do some cleanup work (seems like I'm leaving cleanup on pretty much all my parts until later...must be getting lazy!). These parts all plug into the polycaps in the Master Grade inner frame, just like the regular GM Quel leg parts, so they'll be removable (though perhaps better glued anyway). Depending on the stability of the attachment points, I might add some detail to the inside of the parts too, though probably nothing too crazy.

The side calf parts were built like most of the other parts thusfar, plastic crossections filled with epoxy putty. This time I built everything from scale drawings made in Adobe Illustrator, instead of working with 3d model templates, since I had to make sure they fit the kit leg parts properly. It was a little harder conceptualizing the required shapes this way, but it worked out fine. The knee and vents/fins on the back of the legs are just plastic sheet, layered as necessary for detail and thickness. I had to chop up the front of the Quel leg armor so I could keep the bottom section. I tried to retain the upper knee section of this piece, but it was too wide to fit in the new knee armor, so I built a little section of dummy knee to take it's place. Ok, enough babble, here are the pictures:

http://models4you.whoadude.com/temp/hazel/rearskirt.jpg
http://models4you.whoadude.com/temp/hazel/rearskirt1.jpg

I'm well over half done with the conversion parts, so I expect I'll have kits ready in a month or so.  I think I need a break from plastic for a day or two. :)

Also of note, I've finished up the 1/100 RX-78-3 G3 decal sheet, which I'll add to the store sometime this week.  Hopefully I'll soon find the time/energy to get back to work on the other decal sheets people have been asking about (Zeon sheet, PG RX-78, warning marking sheet, etc.) as well.  Stay tuned!

Despite a lot of gardening, fathering, and other real life pursuits, I've made some excellent progress on my RX-121 Gundam Hazel conversion kit.  The shield is pretty much finished, aside from some cleanup work and the handle (which will be built seperately and attached with magnets...I think).  I'm quite proud of the parts, this is by far the most complex thing I've scratchbuilt.  Scratchbuilding turns out to be easier than I expected, thanks to some 3d design work and a lot of patience! :)  Here are some photos of the shield:

I also got a good start on the backpack, also based on a simple 3d model.  This time, I printed out the template parts on paper and assembled them with tape to verify and tweak the scale before building a plastic and epoxy putty version.  Here are photos of the backpack parts thus far:

New project underway!  Ugh... ;)  I got a little stuck working on the Gaz-R/L, so decided to go ahead and start on building a conversion kit to convert the Master Grade GM Quel into the TR-1 Hazel as seen in Dengeki Hobby.  I plan to include all the parts needed for the full armor Hazel, including the 3 shields and all the extra armor parts.  So far I've scratchbuilt most of the shield, which is the hardest part.  Here are some pictures:

Click for a larger image

And a few more:

http://models4you.whoadude.com/temp/hazel/shield13.jpg

Once I've completed all of the parts I'll be selling resin copies of the conversion kit in the Store (still not sure what the price will be).  It will include all of the armor and shield parts, accurate rifle, e-pacs for the hips, required polycaps, and decals.  Hopefully I can get it finished in a month or so, but you know how that goes...it will probably take longer.  I'll also get around to a detailed writeup of the construction sooner rather than later, which will end up in the Models section.  I'll probably only make about 20 copies, so email me and let me know if you think you want one of the kits.

Whoop, another big update!  Today I uploaded several pages of Gaz-R/L construction articles, this time discussing the arm and leg modifications.  I really gave these parts the workover, new joints and the whole 9 yards.  Hopefully you'll learn something from them, or at least find them interesting.

I also finally uploaded the last of the construction note diagrams for the 1/100 Nu Gundam, as well as the pinup photos.  I'm really pleased with the photos, I had nearly forgotten how much I like that kit. :)  Check them out here.

Last but not least, I've finished up the long awaited Titans Test Team decal sheet from Dengeki Hobby's Advance of Zeta series.  I think this is my best decal sheet yet, I'm really proud of the smooth colors and quality of the printing.  I'm not one to toot my own horn (at least not very loudly), but I honestly believe these decals are super terrific!  I also put up a Gundam G3 version of my HGUC Fix Figuration decals.  These are essentially the same as the old version, but in different colors and including some G3 specific markings.  And since I get so many emails asking if I'll be making decals for such and such a model (and please feel free to keep requests coming!), I've taken the liberty of adding a couple of coming soon items to the store, just so you'll know what to expect in the near future.  As always, decals and goodies are available in my store.

My mind always working ahead of whatever project I'm trying to finish, I started thinking about my next conversion.  I'm considering making a conversion kit to convert the GM Quel into the TR-1 Gundam Hazel, with the boosters and everything (not just the head. :P).  I've also been thinking of making a conversion kit for the HGUC Hi-Zack to convert it into the Titans Test Team version.  If you think you might be interested in either of these, let me know...

It's been long enough, I need to post something here. :)  I've nearly finished the construction phase of my first AMX-117, and hope to be ready to start painting soon.  I'll need to get the second one built before I start, but with the molds made and kinks worked out this first time around, it shouldn't take too long.  This will be my best articulated kit, I've constructed a very dynamic joint system for the elbows and legs.  I should be able to get some pretty exciting poses out of it (thanks to Mark for old Hobby Japan scans to get my creative juices flowing!).  Here are some preview pictures of the elbow joints and leg posability:

I'll see if I can manage another couple of pages describing the construction this coming week.

Not to much to report in the last couple of weeks.  I've been trying to make some progress with my Gaz-R/L conversion, and it looks like I may finish it sometime this century.  The delay on the Titans Test Team decals continues, as I've decided to add an original "bunny" or two.  Here's the surfer TR-1 Hazel bunny I came up with:

I've also worked out some new color tricks, so the decals will have a dither free orange and golden yellow.  Hopefully I'll be able to finish up the sheet sometime soon.  That's all for now folks....

Yay, a real update!  I've just uploaded the first pages detailing the construction of the AMX-117 Gaz-R/L duo from ZZ Gundam (converted from the old Bandai 1/100 Galbaldy-B kit) to the models section.  These models are still a work in progress, and I'll be adding pages as work progresses.  Lots of good customizing and scratchbuilding info for you guys.  Check them out here.

I've also added a new decal sheet to the store.  This time it's my long awaited Gundam Sentinel sheet, with markings for every Sentinel kit released by Bandai to date!  Here's a preview image (click it for more details):

Shiki pictures!  Yes, it's true, I finally got around to photographing my HGUC 100-Shiki.  They aren't the best photos, it's very difficult to light this kit because of the chrome finish, but they'll do for now.  Rather than strip the gold coating, I used it as a base for doing some shading with Alclad II chrome laquer and clear orange (darkened with some black), plus a little bit of Tamiya smoke here and there.  I found that the Tamiya paint didn't airbrush very smoothly at all, no matter how I thinned it.  However, the Alclad II is awesome, it really does look like chrome when sprayed over such a smooth finish.  It's hard to see the shading in the photos, but basically I lightened most of the edges with the Alclad, then darkened select edges with the clear orange.  It looks quite subtle and realistic in person, very much like real heat darkened metal.  Had I known it would work so well, I would have filled and sanded the few obvious seams as well.  The decals went on quite well too (no setting solution was used).  I'll add the decals to my store in the next couple of days (the 1/144 sheet will likely be $12, and the 1/100 is already available for $15).  Click the image below to see the pictures.

However, I did find the time to add new pictures of PCell's beautifully painted and decaled RX-78 1.5 to my 1/100 GFF Gundam decals page.  Check them out!

Happy Sunday!

Still no Shiki pictures, I've been slow in finishing him up. I'll do my best to take some pictures this evening. But I have done some good work this week, I've finished up sheet of Titans Test Team decals (thanks to Dengeki Hobby for coming up with such a cool new style with their Advance of Z series!). Below are some scans of my test prints. There are still a few issues to correct in these scans (some color problems, some scratching from too many layers of ink, etc), but they look great. This is by far the most complex sheet I've done color wise, it takes 14 passes through the printer! These should be available in the store within the week. Click the thumbnails for larger images:

Howdy loyal readers...I hope Santa brought everyone some nice Gundam goodies (or in my case, Neil Peart videos!).

The 1/144 Super Gundam & 100-Shiki decals are finished, but I haven't had a chance to scan them or add them to the store yet.  The sheet includes all of the same stuff as the 1/100, plus a new Project Zeta logo I came up with for Shiki.  If you must see a picture or order some now, email me, otherwise I should have pictures and such available soon.  I'm also painting and decaling my HGUC Shiki, so you'll get a good look at the decals up close. :)  I'm playing with doing some shading with Alclad II Chrome laquer, and some clear paints, so hopefully it will turn out well.  I had hoped to find the new HGUC Super Gundam in town so I could crank it out too, but it hasn't showed up around here yet...

Also, check out the awesome pictures of pcel's MG RX-78 1.5 with my Fix Figuration style decals at gundam.com.  Nice job JP!  I'll probably be setting up a few guest pages in the models section for him, he does beautiful paint jobs.

Now it's almost Christmas!  In the midst of hanging lights and buying presents, I've found the time to work on the Gundam MK-II and 100-Shiki decals.  The 1/100 version should be available within a week, followed by the 1/144 version.  Here's a preview image (still haven't sorted out the colors yet, but you get the idea).

Happy Thanksgiving!  It's turkey day, and I'm going to cook a big ass bird. :)

Another happy note, my Hi-Zack won second prize in the Newtype Asylum model contest (first prize went to a beautifully painted Nu Gundam).  Now I'll have another RX-93 to try out that cool Task Force Alpha paint job on.  Thanks judges...sweet!

This has been kind of a slow week for modeling.  Still not much inspiration to get back to work on my 1/100 Gaz-R/L conversion, though I did pull it out of the box and work on some seams.

But I did feel inspired by the new HGUC Super Gundam.  That thing needs decals badly, and so does the Master Grade!  So I spent a day working up some ideas (inspired by the G-System kits, among other things).  And this time I faked up an image in Photoshop to get an idea of how they'll look.  Come on, you know you want some sweet markings for your Gundam Mk-II and G-Defenser! :)

I should have a sheet ready for the general public in a week or so, keep an eye on the store for details.

I just posted a new decal sheet to the store.  This time it's the Gundam Fix Figuration style decals for the Master Grade RX-78 Gundam (or maybe the new Ver. Ka MG that will be out soon).  This includes all of the markings that come with the 1/144 version, plus some new NT (New Type) logos and a few other goodies.  Here's a preview image:

Another big update, woohoo!  I just finished uploading the construction notes for the RMS-106 Hi-Zack.  Better late than never!  This is a long one, 3 pages of step by step details.  Man, I did more work on that model than I remembered...!

Also, several people have expressed interest in getting the GFF style Gundam decals scaled up to 1/100.  This is my next priority, and I should have it done within a week.  I plan to include some extra goodies in the 1/100 set, probably a stylized NT logo (sort of like the one on the NT-1's shield) and a few other things.  I've also had some requests for RX-78-3 versions.  This can be done easily enough, so if you want different numbers, just email me and let me know.

And if you haven't visited for a while, don't forget to check out the GFF style HGUC Gundam pictures!

Allrighty, the Models 4U store is now open!  If you're looking for water slide Gundam decals to replace those thick stickers or hard to use dry transfers that come with most kits, I've got some decals for you.

For now, I have decals for RX-178 Gundam MK-II models in 1/60 (Perfect Grade), 1/100 (Master Grade), and 1/144 (HGUC), the new Fix Figuration style decals for RX-78 in 1/144 (1/100 coming soon!), and a sheet with enough One Year War insignia and markings to last a long long time.  I've received rave reviews from everyone who has purchased decals from me, this is quality stuff.

Feel free to email me with any questions or suggestions, or if you have trouble with the shopping cart.

I've also added a bunch of links to the Links page, lots of good stuff to pass your time at work. ;)

Ok, enough complaining about the car.  Maybe I can afford new tires for my bike or something. :P  Time for pictures!  Here are the pictures of my HGUC RX-78 with custom Gundam Fix Figuration style decals I've been promising.

I'm still tweaking the decal sheet a bit (adding some stuff for the Core Fighter, which didn't even come with the American release of this model), and changing a few other things around.  The decals will be for sale once I'm finished.  The Hyper Bazooka, which also didn't come with the US version, is from the old 80's Gundam Weapons kit.  The model itself is basically un-modified, though I did fix the head spikes and fill in the yellow cross on the shield, making it slightly Katokified.  The decals look awesome, I was surprised to get such high quality printing in 1/144 scale! The paint job could be a lot smoother, but I was just trying to get it done quickly to I could get the decals on there, and didn't spend much time spraying the model.  Ok, here are the pix:

"He's dead Jim"
My car died today.  Deal.  Kilt.  Kaput.  It sounds like a 20 year old wind up lawn mower.  If my lawn mower sounded like that, I'd worry.  It needs a new engine, which costs more than the car is worth.  Poop. :P

Ok, so I crashed last night and didn't put up any good pictures.  Mah!  But I did fiddle with setting up a paypal store for my decals.  Maybe today...?  If I don't go see Star Wars at the IMAX!

Well, I finally got this What's New page up and running.  I've been working on some new Gundam Decals, and my Fix Figuration style decals for the HGUC RX-78 are pretty much finished.  I should have pictures in a day or two.

I'm also hard at work on a sheet for customizing OYW Zeon MS (Zaku, Gelgoog, etc.), and a sheet of Sentinel decals.  I am currently taking orders for my generic decal sheets, and PG style Titans Gundam MK-II decals (in 1/60, 1/144, and 1/100) scales.  I'll post some pictures tonight, in the mean time email me if you want more info.
