I've always been a huge fan of Ralph McQuarrie designs, and Battlestar Galactica is by no means an exception! This is a classic kit that I somehow missed out on building as a kid, the Revell 30th anniversary reissue of the Monogram Cylon Raider from the original Battlestar Galactica. A "big kid" neighbor of mine had this hanging from the ceiling in his room growing up and I coveted it despite the likelyhood of shooting my eye out with the missile launcher. So when I found a cheap one on eBay it was a no-brainer! I needed a simple project and this baby fit the bill nicely.
It's really a very nice model considering the age of the base molds. It's quite accurate, with only minor details missing, thus a good base for a "quick" build. I confined myself to re-scribing the panel lines, adding some greeblie details, and installing a simple lighting system. Of course about half way through scribing panel lines I found out that Moebius would be issuing a studio scale kit. How typical.
As usual, the build log is divided into sections, click the links to see the details.
